A Touch of Art

DALI raimsimmortalitat

Raïms de la Immortalitat

The label on the bottles of this unique Torre del Veguer wine, “Raims de Immortalitat,” comes from a painting by Salvador Dali (1904-1989) called “Grapes of Immortality” (1970). In Dali’s own words, this painting “…symbolizes the immortality contained in the biological suspension.” This work of art and others from his study of jewellery and jewels in general, can be found in the collection of the Gala- Salvador Dali Foundation, which is described in detail below.

The history of this study on jewellery begun during the 1940’s when Salvador Dalí worked in association with several established jewellers from the city of New York, to design and create new images of jewellery. In 1958, the Owen Cheatham Foundation bought these unique pieces of jewellery designed by Dali, and continued to augment their collection until 1970. After the discovery of two additional Saudi and Japanese pieces in 1999, the 37 pieces of jewellery, along with 27 drawings and paintings by Dali (which were the inspiration for these unique pieces), were acquired by the Gala -Salvador Dali Foundation, which is housed in the town of Figueres, Spain.
